Inherit traditions to the future

Do you know Japanese traditional culture?

This last few decades, Japanese people’s lifestyle has been changed by some reasons.

For example, globalization, technological development and more and more.

In addition, some of Japanese traditional culture that once existed is disappearing.

100 years ago, most of people were wearing Kimono in japan.

However, it is different now.

The other traditional crafts and cultures are faced with the same situation.

A graph below shows the amount of workers of traditional crafts and production value are decreasing ↓↓

Kyoto has many traditional things that should be passed on to the future.

They are called “Kyo-mono” and “Kyo-shikki” is one of them.

Please refer to this page about Kyo-shikki.

Kyo-shikki has many problems.

Sluggish demand, empty craftsman, successor and materials and so on.

The cause of all these problems is changing our lives.

Most of the people don’t use Kyo-shikki in daily lives.

From our survey, we found that people who know Kyo-shikki is only 30%.

But KYO-SHIKKI has special value that must inherit to the future.

KYO-SHIKKI that has developed with long history in Kyoto has beauty

which is not seen in other production areas.

And there is always huge passion of craftsmen.

With their passion, we’d like to inherit Kyo-sihkki and Kyoto’s and Japanese tradition to the future.

This is our MISSION.
